St. Magdalener Classico (Santa Maddalena Classico) is an Alto Adige DOC on sun-drenched hillsides above Bolzano. Schiava Gentile dominates, producing light-bodied reds with distinctive almond, cherry, and violet aromatics. The classico subzone represents the historic core, farmed on steep volcanic porphyry terraces at 300–600m. Once among Italy's most celebrated reds.
