Sierra Foothills

Sierra Foothills is a California AVA established in 1987, spanning the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada across Amador, El Dorado, Calaveras, Tuolumne, and Mariposa counties. Elevations from 1,200 to 3,500 feet above sea level create wide diurnal temperature swings that preserve acidity. The region's Gold Rush history left a legacy of old-vine Zinfandel, and the granitic and volcanic soils also support Syrah, Barbera, and Grenache.
