vynr brings together your wines, their makers, their places and your memories.

• Label scanning and manual entry.
• Cellar and storage views, as a treemap or a list.
• The Atlas, producer pages and Vynrpedia.
• Drinking windows and the Time Lens, back through your history and forward.
• A journal of tastings, notes and photographs, with analytical tasting.

vynr+ adds unlimited bottles and more cellars, planning beyond six months, Assistant Link to connect your cellar privately to ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, Ask vynr whenever you need it, and richer journal composition and publishing. The wine facts are the same on every plan. Compare vynr and vynr+.

Weekly updates at first, easing to every two weeks as things settle. They refine what 1.2 already does. The one addition is CellarTracker import, which was ready for launch and held back only to keep the launch release simple.

1.2.1 — the first update

• CellarTracker import, to bring an existing cellar across.
• Smoother manual entry when a scan fails or is only partly read.
• A clearer Restore from iCloud screen.

Later 1.2.x updates

• Continued backup and restore improvements.
• Refinements to the maturity views and the Time Lens, and a quicker route from the Time Lens to the Journal.
• Easier Assistant Link setup, recovery when a connection goes stale, and explicit choices about sharing exact quantities and collection value.
• A clearer path from publishing a shared cellar to opening it in the app or web viewer, including QR hand-off in a classroom.
• Making sure a student can record their own tasting of a shared wine without cloning it into a cellar.
• Clearer information about the bottle allowance, the edge of the free forward Time Lens, and a reminder before a trial ends.

The working scope of a roughly three-month release. Tasting and the Journal become permanent and connected: capture an occasion, keep what you tasted, learn from it through the Atlas and Vynrpedia, come back to it, and turn it into study or teaching material. Details are refined through design.

Tasting events

• Start an empty tasting, add wines as you taste them, and keep the occasion permanently.
• Wines you tasted stay distinct from bottles you own and never count towards your bottle allowance. If you later buy one, an explicit step adds it to a cellar of your choice.
• Revisit, annotate, rename, correct or delete an event and everything you wrote.
• A photographic keepsake of a finished tasting.
• Events live inside the Journal and the Time Lens, not in a separate archive.

Analytical tasting, extended

• Appearance, nose, palate, finish and conclusion, with one vocabulary throughout.
• Colour choices suited to each wine type, with free text where the choices don't fit.
• Vynrpedia explanations beside each field.
• One path from tasting, to the finished event, to the Journal, to study material.

Journal and learning

• Tasting notes, photographs and marginalia treated as study material, linked to Atlas places, producer pages and Vynrpedia concepts.
• Vynrpedia explanations wherever they help across the app.
• A clear way to review scan details that were set aside for checking.

Blind tasting and study sets

• Blind-tasting sets: write the note first, then reveal the wine and compare with vynr's reference information. Nobody marks you right or wrong.
• Study sets built from your tasting events and journal entries, with composed study notes and exports. Your original notes stay intact.

Teaching and sharing

• Publish a tasting or study set to students, building on shared cellars that already carry notes and journal entries.
• Students can record their own tasting of a shared wine without cloning or owning it.
• A smooth route from a tutor's QR code or link to the student's app or browser.

From vynr

• A quiet place in the app for updates, known issues, advice and roadmap news from vynr, readable again at any time from Settings.
• No account and no tracking. It never interrupts what you are doing, and the app works fully without it.
• Each notice can invite your feedback through the same contact route as this page.

Analytical tasting stays free. Capturing, correcting, keeping, revisiting, backing up and exporting your own tasting history will never be taken away, and reading shared material stays free. vynr+ additions build on that record: composing, organising, teaching and publishing.

The Time Lens becomes a planning tool that helps you act.

• A view across the whole cellar of what is ready now, ready soon, approaching its peak or at risk of being overlooked, and where drinking windows crowd together.
• Opt-in drink-window reminders as a calm "ready soon" digest, not one alert per bottle, with control over frequency, quiet periods and snoozing. They update when a bottle is drunk, gifted, corrected or moved.
• Plan wines for a meal, dinner or tasting, starting from the food, the date, the guests or a few candidate bottles.
• Deeper Assistant Link help with food pairing and planning an opening, with snapshots that stay current under your existing privacy choices.

Our intent is that the same readiness facts appear on every tier and that free planning stays genuinely useful. What is free and what is vynr+ is settled when this release is designed.

What your own history says about the wines, places and styles you return to, and how that is changing.

• A visible taste profile built from your own tastings, showing the evidence behind every conclusion and separating settled preferences from new interests. You can correct it.
• Recommendations that explain in plain language why a wine may suit you, from your cellar, a scanned wine list or a shared set, balancing the familiar with discovery.
• Chapters in the Journal and the Time Lens that show periods and changes in your drinking, built from what you actually tasted and drank.
• Your own private notes on places, producers and concepts in the Atlas, kept visibly separate from vynr's reference information.
• Explicit control over whether any of your taste reaches Assistant Link.

Your profile stays private on your device unless you choose to share part of it. There is no single score of your taste, and no comparison with other people.
