Osaka is a wine-producing prefecture in the Kansai region of Japan, with a winemaking history dating to the Meiji era. The Kashiwara area in eastern Osaka, on the slopes of the Ikoma mountain range, is the main vineyard zone. Katashimo Winery, established in 1914, is one of Japan's oldest operating wineries and the anchor of the region's wine identity. Osaka received GI status in 2022.
