Yamagata
Yamagata is a wine-producing prefecture in northeastern Honshu, Japan, centered on the Takahata area in the Okitama basin. The region received GI status in 2021. Its continental climate with heavy snowfall and warm summers supports grape cultivation, particularly Delaware (used for both table consumption and winemaking) and Muscat Bailey A. Yamagata is also known for its fruit agriculture, and local wineries often emphasize the connection between wine and the region's broader agricultural heritage.
