Austria's benchmark DAC for aromatic whites. Opok (marl-limestone) soils on steep south-facing slopes in the foothills bordering Slovenia. Sauvignon Blanc leads — site-expressive, mineral, and long-lived from top estates like Tement — alongside Welschriesling, Morillon (Chardonnay), and Gelber Muskateller. DAC rules formalised in 2018.
