Weststeiermark
Steep schist and phyllite slopes west of Graz, centred on Deutschlandsberg and Stainz. Defined almost entirely by the indigenous Blauer Wildbacher grape, which produces Schilcher — a sharp, cranberry-tart rosé unlike anything else in Austria. A niche region with a fiercely local identity.
Schilcher rosé; tart, high-acid, distinctive
