Languedoc is an AOC located in the southern part of France, encompassing a diverse range of terroirs and climates. The region is known for its production of both red and white wines, with a focus on blends that often include Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre for reds, and Grenache Blanc and Vermentino for whites. Languedoc has a rich history of viticulture, dating back to Roman times, and has seen significant modernization and investment in recent decades. Known as Coteaux du Languedoc from the 1985 AOC until the 2007 creation of AOC Languedoc; the cahier des charges allowed the former name on labels until 3 May 2017.
