Saint-Joseph

A long ribbon of granite hillsides producing some of the Northern Rhône's best values. The wines combine Syrah's dark fruit with a peppery freshness that makes them approachable young. Expansion in the 1990s diluted quality, but the best growers — on the original granite slopes — make profound wine.

Fresh, peppery, accessible
