Pira is an officially codified 2007 MGA in Serralunga d'Alba at 270–320 m, a south-facing site on the Serralunga ridge with compact Helvetian Serravallian marl soils. The terroir delivers the characteristic Serralunga profile of concentrated dark fruit, firm tannic structure, and mineral depth, with wines that require significant bottle age. The MGA is distinct from the Barolo-commune Pira holdings; several small producers work the site, with Luigi Pira the best-known estate historically associated with this cru.
Structured, mineral Serralunga Barolo; concentrated and age-demanding
