Passito di Pantelleria is a DOC appellation located on the island of Pantelleria, part of Sicily, Italy. The appellation is for its production of sweet dessert wines made primarily from the Zibibbo grape, also known as Muscat of Alexandria. The unique volcanic soil and the island's hot, dry climate contribute to the concentration of sugars in the grapes, which are typically dried on mats before fermentation. This method enhances the wine's rich flavors and aromas, resulting in a distinctive style that reflects the island's terroir.
